top 5 and three quarters…Rene Gruau

1. I am still feeling nostalgic from looking at all those Jackie O photos and then I looked at my mantle piece and realised it was covered in images by Rene Gruau, the godfather of fashion illustration. After the Second World War he worked closely with Christian Dior, promoting the 1947 New Look collection, and continued to work with the house of Dior many decades afterwards. He carried on drawing right up until the 1990s for major fashion brands and magazines. I love it all. You’ve probably seen it on a greetings card but don’t let that put you off.
