top 5 and three quarters…Betty Catroux

Fashion blogs across the world are draped in pictures from the costume institute gala. Serena in Versace beat Blair in LV. Nice try B. Victoria Beckham looked awful so no surpises there and Kate, well, looked different. Can’t wait to see Topshop’s £20.00 turbin.

As the theme of this year was ‘Model as Muse’ one lady sprung to mind. Betty Catroux was muse, best friend, entourage and wild child for YSL. She embodied what happened to Paris when YSL, the 70s and pret-a-porter turned up on the Left Bank and left gloomy post war France behind. Her long limbs were perfect for Yves’ trousers and ‘Le Smoking’ and her beauty was as striking and powerful as YSL’s designs.

People are so wrong. Blake did not beat Leighton. Blake is gorgeous but anyone could rock up in a Versace gown and just be pretty. Leighton wore the world’s ugliest get-up. She knew she was going to get cussed and she pulled it off with a smile on her face.

I love your new hair! Very slinky.

sticking to my guns for two reasons:
    1. Not everyone can look good in Versace – Donnatella for one.
2.Just cos it’s different does not make it cool. Thats the easy way out.
