I’ve just been looking at the Burberry Prorsum Menswear Fall 2010 show in Milan. There is not a single piece that I wouldn’t wear let alone be utterly overjoyed if the boyfriend came home in (partly ’cause he’d look super fit and partly so I could steal them). Christopher Bailey only seems to get it RIGHT. Harking back to the brand’s history, Bailey has gone for tough outer-wear of flying jackets, military jackets and trench coats. As Tim Banks writes “Thomas Burberry dressed explorers, pioneers and warriors (the trench coat is so named because soldiers wore it on the front line in the first World War)”. Bailey manages to carry on the Burberry history not only in the sense of tough stylish utility but also utter Englishness and I love it.
